This program has been in place since 2009 when we officially began in both schools – Benito Juarez (BJ) in the morning and Andres Quintana Roo (AQR) in the afternoon. At that time there was a group of 17 volunteers who put together lesson plans and attended class at both schools.
If was soon discovered that BJ was becoming a challenge to give the teachers time and space for the classes. In 2013 the focus of the classes was at AQR.
And it continues today during the wnter season when the snowbirds are here.
This year, 2018 there were enough volunteers to offer classes to grades 3-4-5 and 6 at AQR.
Report from Susan:
I would like to thank the staff for giving us the opportunity to work with their students.
A big thank you to Mary, Karen, Ruth and Berri and their support group. You made this program work. Hope to see you all next year.
